Studs and Duds
by Simon McGrother
Week 10 has come and gone and we've got a whole new set of memorable performances for you.
The Studs
Marlion Jackson (CLE)
One of the stars of the season saves up an amazing day for the visit
of the best team in the league. 49 yards rushing and 4 scores cemented
the Gladiators huge upset of the Soul.
Otis Amey (CLE)
And he was ably assisted by Otis, who had another superb day (3 in 4
weeks) with 135 total yards and 4 receiving TDs.
Marcus Nash (DAL)
The Rado's season was in danger of unravelling trailing against the
poor Destroyers coming off the crushing defeat against Philly. Nash and
Pettis stepped up big with 4 and 3 TDs respectively and 400 yards
between them. Nash gets the stud for it being less expected of him.
Troy Bergeron (GEO)
The biggest part of the Force's upset victory over the VooDoo was
Troy with 156 total yards and 4 receiving TDs.
Marquis Floyd (SJS)
A surprising number of SaberCats had decent days, despite the
drubbing at the hands of the Predators. Marquis gets plaudits for his 2
interceptions and 6 tackles. But nods also to Rodney Wright for 329 total
yards (and amazingly only 1 TD) and James Roe for 3 TDs.
Aaron Hosack (COL)
Aaron was the star for the Colorado offense as they humbled the
Rampage. The Rookie had 10 catches for 88 yards and 4 TDs.
Peter Martinez (KCB)
Most of the Brigade did fine (they were playing the Blaze), but
Peter Martinez kicked a 58 yard FG. Which is just amazing.
Joe Germaine (UTA)
At long last a win for the brave Blaze. Orchestrated by Joe who
threw for 8 and ran for another, collecting 337 passing yards en route.
Superb performance.
Huey Whittaker (UTA)
Huey's had a bit of a slump, but 11 catches for 117 yards and 4 TDs
would appear to emphatically end that slump.
Trandon Harvey (ARI)
Arizona are another of this week's losers who's players generally
had decent statistical performances. Trandon did his usual, with 3 total
TDs and 259 total yards, but all the Rattlers contributed.
The Duds
Matt D'Orazio and Tony Graziani (PHI)
Combined they had a perfectly solid day, but individually they were
both serious duds with only 3 TDs each. Although Matt's 45 yards
rushing and an additional TD helped buoy his stats.
James MacPherson (GRR)
Colorado have a fine secondary, but 230 yards and 3 TDs is
unacceptable.
Mark Lewis (CLB)
Kickers cannot win, if they kick their FGs they are never studs, but
dud-laurels are on there way every time they miss a potential
game-tying 25 yarder as time expires. Mark Lewis take a bow.
James Jordan (NVD)
Were it not for the Soul's remarkable defeat in Cleveland, New
Orleans stumble in Georgia would have registered on the Richter scale of
upsets. James managed only 3 garbs for 43 yards and no scores, which is so
far removed from his normal as to be unrecognizable.
Shane Stafford (ORL)
As the season reaches its culmination fantasy owners cannot afford
their QB to score only 1 TD, no matter the reason.
Hank Edwards (TBS)
No-one really stood out from a fantasy viewpoint in the Monday night
game. But owners who were hoping that Hank would bring home a win,
were undoubtedly dissappointed with 4 catches for 56 yards and no scores.
