2007 Player Rankings for Week 6

by Simon McGrother
April 4, 2007

Week 5 saw some tremendous games, high scores and significant upsets. Just what we like! The Dragons, despite another loss, showed that they really might be on the rebound, the VooDoo upset divisional rivals Orlando, the Rush cast serious doubts over the Avenger's resurgence, Georgia went down to their first loss in Columbus, who gambled it all on a 2-point conversion - fortune favors the brave. And Arizona also went for the 2-pointer when 1 would have taken them to overtime - and failed - fortune really just shows what a fickle SOB she can be by treating the brave like a punchbag!

  1. Chris Griesen, Georgia
  2. Joe Germaine, Utah
  3. Clint Dolezel, Dallas
  4. Sherdrick Bonner, Arizona
  5. Tony Graziani, Philadelphia
  6. Mark Grieb, San Jose

  17. Matt Nagy, Columbus
  18. Micheal Bishop, Grand Rapids
  19. Stoney Case, Tampa Bay
  20. Chad Salisbury, Grand Rapids
  21. Clint Stoerner, Nashville

In an 8- or 10-team fantasy league, there are 4 or 5 teams who's starting QB blows hot and cold (at best). Owners sweat throughout the weekend, whilst Joe Germaine or Sherdrick Bonner owners sip mai tais and wait for the points to start rolling in. Well those of us who suffer for our points had a better week than usual. Matt D'Orazio had a great day against the Avengers (for whom Sonny Cumbie was the exception to all this), Jeff Smoker continued to impress, Adrian McPherson won the battle of Texas (in spirit at least) even Rohan Davey had a monster day. So all of this does little to change the QB rankings, but imagine the peloton (to steal a term from the Tour De France) closing in on the leaders.

  1. Siaha Burley, Utah
  2. Bobby Sippio, Chicago
  3. Ben Nelson, San Jose
  4. Will Pettis, Dallas
  5. Chris Jackson, Georgia
  6. Damien Harrell, Colorado
  7. Troy Bergeron, Georgia

  10. Cornelius Bonner, Nashville
  11. Kevin Ingram, Los Angeles

  18. Lenzie Jackson, Los Angeles
  19. Jeremiah Pope, Arizona
  20. Damian Groce, Columbus
  21. Trandon Harvey, Arizona
  22. Kenny Henderson, New Orleans
  23. Derek Lee, Georgia
  24. Timon Marshall, Grand Rapids

  29. Kevin McKenzie, Arizona
  30. Javarus Dudley, Orlando (BYE)
  31. Andy McCullough, Chicago

  41. Tyronne Jones, New Orleans
  42. Ryan Dennard, Utah
  43. Thabiti Davis, Las Vegas
  44. Sedrick Robinson, Austin (IR)
  45. Jason Shelley, Nashville
  46. Etu Molden, Las Vegas
  47. Kevin Swayne, New York
  48. Orshwante Bryant, Utah
  49. Otis Amey, Austin
  50. Brad Pyatt, Colorado

  56. James Jordan, New Orleans
  57. Aaron Boone, Utah
  58. Rob Turner, Los Angeles
  59. Sam Simmons, Kansas City
  60. Robert Redd, Colorado
  61. Josh Bush, Columbus
  62. Jerome Riley, Grand Rapids
  63. Marcus Knight, Columbus
  64. Curtis Fagan, Arizona
  65. Ahmad Merritt, Chicago
  66. Darnell McDonald, FA

Unlike the quarterbacks, the receiving headlines were dominated by the usual suspects. Bobby Sippio was the pick of the bunch hauling in 5 scores for the Rush. Ben Nelson, Trandon Harvey (ARZ), Will Pettis and Siaha Burley all had four. After these were encouraging performances by Mike Horacek and Kevin Swayne in New York's feisty loss against the perfect Soul, and by Thabiti Davis for Las Vegas. The LA tandem of Kevin Ingram and Lenzie Jackson disappointed but should rebound next week as they (finally) play at home against the generous Rattlers. Jeremiah Pope returned to play well, Kevin Prentiss has been placed on the IR list, Marcus Nash missed his second game in a row, and Kenny Henderson, Jason Shelley and Aaron Boone were mysteriously not to be found near any field this weekend. Watch their status and decide accordingly. If they all skip again, Andrae Thurman, Troy Mason, Kenny Higgins and Ryan Dennard all take jumps upward.

  1. Dan Alexander, Nashville
  2. Josh White, Dallas
  3. Bo Kelly, Arizona
  4. Robert Thomas, Colorado
  5. Ja'Mar Toombs, New York
  6. Chris Ryan, Grand Rapids
  7. Lonnie Ford, Los Angeles
  8. Wes Ours, Philadelphia
  9. Dan Curran, New Orleans
  10. Marlon Moye-Moore, Orlando (BYE)
  11. Brian Johnson, San Jose
  12. Josh Rue, Las Vegas
  13. Dawan Moss, Kansas City
  14. Harold Wells, Columbus
  15. Torrance Marshall, Tampa Bay
  16. Chad Dukes, Austin
  17. Kevin Nagle, Orlando (BYE)
  18. Bob McMillen, Chicago
  19. Matt Huebner, Georgia
  20. Kevin Clemens, Utah
  21. Frank Carter, Utah
  22. Byron Douzart, Kansas City
  23. James Lynch, New Orleans
  24. John Peaua, Colorado
  25. Bruce McClure, Georgia
  26. Rodney Filer, Tampa Bay (OUT)

Dan Alexander has now rushed for 15 TDs, matching the best of 2006 in only 5 weeks. Bo Kelly continued his own fine season with a pair of TDs, but kudos of the week go to Torrance Marshall, linebacker acting as fullback, who amply filled the (slightly twisted) boots of Rodney Filer rushing for 3TDs. The luckless Storm may rely heavily on Marshall in the coming weeks. Outside of these guys it was a quiet week for fullbacks, with Lonnie Ford probably the most disappointing becoming the first fullback in living memory to fail to score against the Rush.

  1. Rashad Floyd, Colorado
  2. Chris D. Brown, New Orleans
  3. Eddie Moten, Philadelphia
  4. Hamin Milligan, Georgia
  5. Lin-J Shell, Orlando (BYE)
  6. DeJuan Alfonzo, Chicago
  7. Nate Coggins, Austin
  8. Clevan Thomas, San Jose
  9. Jeroid Johnson, Tampa Bay
  10. Willie Gary, Georgia
  11. Brandon Hefflin, Columbus
  12. Jonathan Ordway, Chicago
  13. Terrance Joseph, Utah
  14. Dennison Robinson, Chicago
  15. Damen Wheeler, Los Angeles
  16. Rober' Freeman, Columbus
  17. Keyuo Craver, Arizona
  18. Jeremy Unertl, Chicago
  19. Joseph Todd, Arizona
  20. Jermaine Jones, Dallas
  21. DaShane Dennis, Kansas City
  22. Monty Montgomery, Nashville
  23. Damon Mason, Austin
  24. Arnold Parker, Los Angeles
  25. Alex Wallace, New Orleans
  26. Billy Parker, New York
  27. Chris Brown, Dallas
  28. Mike Brown, Philadelphia
  29. Chris Pointer, Orlando (BYE)
  30. Clarence Lawson, Utah
  31. Omaar Smith, San Jose
  32. David Crocker, Georgia
  33. Delvin Hughley, Colorado
  34. Denario Smalls, Kansas City
  35. Reggie Doster, Grand Rapids
  36. Chuck Wesley, Grand Rapids (IR)
  37. Kenny McEntyre, Kansas City
  38. Ahmad Hawkins, Nashville
  39. Antuan Simmons, Los Angeles
  40. Thal Woods, Nashville
  41. William Haith, New Orleans
  42. Earthwind Moreland, Las Vegas
  43. Johnnie Harris, Philadelphia
  44. Ryan Bowers, Orlando (BYE)
  45. Calvin Spears, New Orleans
  46. Chris Angel, New York
  47. Travis Coleman, Kansas City
  48. Erin Damond, Arizona
  49. Anthony Derricks, Los Angeles
  50. B.J. Barre, Columbus
  51. D.J. Johnson, Las Vegas

Edie Moten again excelled and continues his inexorable rise up the rankings. He'll have to work hard to catch Rashad Floyd who added another 10-tackle haul to his resume. Georgia succumbed to their first loss of the season in no small measure due to the tackling of Brandon Hefflin and Rober' Freeman (who I suspect knocked a letter clean out of his name), both of whom had 10. Another man to hit double figures in tackles was Keyuo Craver who's quietly having a superb season for the Rattlers.

  1. Mark Lewis, Austin
  2. Todd Sievers, Dallas
  3. A. J. Haglund, San Jose
  4. Steve Videtich, Utah
  5. Brian Gowins, Grand Rapids
  6. Steve Azar, Las Vegas
  7. Todd France, Philadelphia
  8. Gary Kral, Arizona
  9. Jason Ball, Colorado
  10. Eric Houle, New Orleans
  11. Remy Hamilton, Los Angeles
  12. Dan Frantz, Chicago
  13. Peter Martinez, Columbus
  14. Carter Warley, New York
  15. Jason Witczak, Nashville
  16. Jay Taylor, Orlando (BYE)
  17. Keith Gispert, Georgia
  18. Seth Marler, Tampa Bay
  19. Clay Rush, Kansas City

A.J. Haglund, in addition to kicking 9 of 10 extra points for the SaberCats, scored a TD and made 4 solo tackles. I think he may have helped an old lady across the street and saved a kitty from up a tree too. All in a week's work for the Ironman of the Game. Jay Taylor gets a whole 2 weeks to think about the FG he missed as time expired that would have taken the VooDoo to overtime - ouch. Final word to Carter Warley of New York, who is 19/20 on extra points and 3 of 4 on field goals. If the Dragons continue to improve, he could be quite an addition.
