2007 Player Rankings for Week 4

by Simon McGrother
March 21, 2007

Week 3 was the week of the rush. Several players had their biggest ever haul of rushing TDs. Rule changes have made it easier to bring in a fullback for short yardage - and coaches are beginning to use this to good effect. Could lower the value of QBs (see Clint Dolezel's week 3 figures), who'll get a few less rushing and a few less passing scores, so bear that in mind if someone is offering you a trade.

  1. Chris Griesen, Georgia
  2. Clint Dolezel, Dallas
  3. Sherdrick Bonner, Arizona
  4. Joe Germaine, Utah
  5. Shaun King, Las Vegas
  6. Shane Stafford, Orlando
  7. Tony Graziani, Philadelphia
  8. John Dutton, Colorado
  9. Andy Kelly, New Orleans
  10. Mark Grieb, San Jose

  12. Matt D'Orazio, Chicago
  13. Raymond Philyaw, Kansas City (BYE)
  14. Jeff Smoker, Nashville
  15. Adrian McPherson, Austin
  16. Matt Nagy, Columbus
  17. John Kaleo, Tampa Bay
  18. Rohan Davey, New York
  19. Michael Bishop, Grand Rapids
  20. Clint Stoerner, Nashville

Shaun King immediately suffered vertigo after moving up the list having a rotten day against the VooDoo and sees his star dim, just a little. Adrian McPherson is going to have to stop throwing interceptions, or he (and the Wranglers) will continue to slide. Andy Kelly has impressed, and with a visit from the Avengers should continue to do so. Jeff Smoker had a very accomplished start for the Katz, replacing Stoerner, but will have a tough test on the road in Austin in week 4. Nevertheless, if he is still on the wire, grab him now. John Dutton finally got going, but scoring against the Rattlers is no great challenge. We'll want to see him perform to the same level against tougher defenses before our confidence is restored. A trip to Philly should be a good test.

  1. Siaha Burley, Utah
  2. Ben Nelson, San Jose
  3. Bobby Sippio, Chicago
  4. Marcus Nash, Dallas
  5. Troy Bergeron, Georgia
  6. Kevin Prentiss, Las Vegas
  7. Randy Gatewood, Arizona
  8. Damien Harrell, Colorado
  9. Chris Jackson, Georgia
  10. Sean Scott, Philadelphia
  11. Will Pettis, Dallas
  12. Kevin Ingram, Los Angeles
  13. Jeremiah Pope, Arizona
  14. Lenzie Jackson, Los Angeles
  15. Charles Frederick, Kansas City (BYE)
  16. Derrick Lewis, Austin
  17. Damian Groce, Columbus
  18. Kenny Henderson, New Orleans
  19. Timon Marshall, Grand Rapids
  20. James Roe, San Jose
  21. Sean Scott, Philadelphia
  22. Darnell McDonald, New Orleans
  23. Kevin Nickerson, Austin
  24. Rodney Wright, San Jose
  25. Derek Lee, Georgia
  26. Mike Horacek, New York
  27. Jerel Myers, Kansas City (BYE)
  28. Cornelius Bonner, Nashville
  29. Kevin Swayne, New York
  30. TT Toliver, Tampa Bay
  31. Javarus Dudley, Orlando
  32. Andy McCullough, Chicago
  33. Lawrence Samuels, Tampa Bay
  34. David Saunders, Columbus
  35. Willie Quinnie, Colorado
  36. Etu Molden, Las Vegas
  37. DeAndrew Rubin, Orlando
  38. Jimmy Fryzel, Orlando (IR)
  39. Mike Brown, Philadelphia
  40. Troy Edwards, Grand Rapids
  41. Tyronne Jones, New Orleans
  42. Ryan Dennard, Utah
  43. Charles Pauley, Philadelphia
  44. Jason Shelley, Nashville
  45. Orshwante Bryant, Utah
  46. Rob Turner, Los Angeles
  47. Kenny Higgins, Nashville
  48. Otis Amey, Austin
  49. Brad Pyatt, Colorado
  50. Darcey Levy, Columbus
  51. Alonzo Nix, Nashville
  52. Demetris Bendross, Tampa Bay
  53. Trandon Harvey, Arizona
  54. Thabiti Davis, Las Vegas
  55. James Jordan, New Orleans
  56. Aaron Boone, Utah
  57. Sam Simmons, Kansas City (BYE)
  58. Robert Redd, Colordao
  59. Josh Bush, Columbus
  60. Jerome Riley, Grand Rapids
  61. Marcus Knight, Columbus
  62. Curtis Fagan, Arizona
  63. Andrae Thurman, Dallas
  64. Ahmad Merritt, Chicago

Siaha Burley came back with 150 yds and 3 scores, so he stays where he belongs - atop the heap. His return spells downward motion for his teammates. Damien Harrell flexed his muscles at last and bounces back up the list. We're still concerned about the Colorado offense and it will be interesting to see what they can do at Philly in week 4. Owners of Dallas receivers may have been troubled by the 5 rushing TDs, but I expect balance to return to the Desperados against Orlando. Big day for Jeremiah Pope of the Rattlers sees him climb the rankings and Randy Gatewood slip a little. Another big day for Charles Frederick of Kansas City - my personal choice for fantasy stud of the year. He is 8th in the league in receiving and 4th in rushing. He's on bye in week 4, but should come back refreshed. Jimmy Fryzel's hamstring injury boosts both Javarus Dudley and DeAndrew Rubin - and kudos to the Preds for beating a tough Austin team minus their star receiver - perhaps the reversal at the hands of LA was a one-off.

  1. Dan Alexander, Nashville
  2. Josh White, Dallas
  3. Rodney Filer, Tampa Bay
  4. Chris Ryan, Grand Rapids
  5. Bo Kelly, Arizona
  6. Lonnie Ford, Los Angeles
  7. Wes Ours, Philadelphia
  8. Dan Curran, New Orleans
  9. Matt Kisinger, San Jose
  10. Josh Rue, Las Vegas
  11. Ja'Mar Toombs, New York
  12. Dawan Moss, Kansas City
  13. Robert Thomas, Colorado
  14. Marlon Moye-Moore, Orlando
  15. Harold Wells, Columbus
  16. Chad Dukes, Austin
  17. Kevin Nagle, Orlando
  18. Bob McMillen, Chicago
  19. Matt Huebner, Georgia
  20. Kevin Clemens, Utah
  21. Frank Carter, Utah
  22. Byron Douzart, Kansas City (BYE)
  23. James Lynch, New Orleans
  24. John Peaua, Colorado
  25. Bruce McClure, Georgia

Huge weeks for Dan Alexander, Rodney Filer and Josh White. Had a single full back scored 4 or more TDs in a game we could view him as a flash in a pan aberration, but 3 of them in a single week suggest a paradigm shift for the whole league. Rushing had been the domain of fleet-footed QBs with fullbacks called on only sporadically. It might be a good time to pick up a solid back up in the FB position - could have some tradability if nothing else. Honorable mentions to Wes Ours, Robert Thomas and Ja'mar Toombs all of whom scored 2 rushing TDs - in any other week a significant achievement for a FB.

  1. Rashad Floyd, Colorado
  2. Clevan Thomas, San Jose
  3. Chris D. Brown, New Orleans
  4. Hamin Milligan, Georgia
  5. Nate Coggins, Austin
  6. Eddie Moten, Philadelphia
  7. Jeroid Johnson, Tampa Bay
  8. Brandon Hefflin, Columbus
  9. Lin-J Shell, Orlando
  10. DeJuan Alfonzo, Chicago
  11. Jonathan Ordway, Grand Rapids
  12. Terrance Joseph, Utah
  13. Damen Wheeler, Los Angeles
  14. Dennison Robinson, Chicago
  15. Jermaine Jones, Dallas
  16. DaShane Dennis, Kansas City (BYE)
  17. Jeremy Unertl, Chicago
  18. Damon Mason, Austin
  19. Joseph Todd, Arizona
  20. Earthwind Moreland, Las Vegas
  21. Willie Gary, Georgia
  22. Chris Brown, Dallas
  23. Mike Brown, Philadelphia
  24. Chris Pointer, Orlando
  25. Clarence Lawson, Utah
  26. Omaar Smith, San Jose
  27. David Crocker, Georgia
  28. Delvin Hughley, Colorado
  29. Denario Smalls, Kansas City (BYE)
  30. Reggie Doster, Grand Rapids
  31. Chuck Wesley, Grand Rapids (IR)
  32. Kenny McEntyre, Kansas City (BYE)
  33. Antuan Simmons, Los Angeles
  34. Thal Woods, Nashville
  35. Johnnie Harris, Philadelphia
  36. Todd Howard, Chicago
  37. Calvin Spears, New Orleans
  38. Kevin Moffett, Utah
  39. Chris Angel, New York
  40. Ryan Bowers, Orlando
  41. Ben Kelly, Grand Rapids
  42. Alex Wallace, New Orleans
  43. Travis Coleman, Kansas City (BYE)
  44. Erin Damond, Arizona
  45. Anthony Derricks, Los Angeles
  46. B.J. Barre, Columbus
  47. D.J. Johnson, Las Vegas
  48. Eric Joyce, Nashville

Jermaine Jones managed a pair of picks against KC. Lin-J Shell was again involved in everything for the Predators - while Austin may not have the most impressive offense, holding them to 30 points is quite an achievement. Chris D. Brown, defensive star for the VooDoo even managed to return a kick for a TD. Jonathan Ordway returned a kick for a TD for the second week in a row, while Earthwind Moreland and Willie Gary each take a step up based on their double-digit tackle performances.

  1. Mark Lewis, Austin
  2. Steve Videtich, Utah
  3. Brian Gowins, Grand Rapids
  4. Todd Sievers, Dallas
  5. Steve Azar, Las Vegas
  6. Todd France, Philadelphia
  7. Gary Kral, Arizona
  8. Eric Houle, New Orleans
  9. Remy Hamilton, Los Angeles
  10. Jason Ball, Colorado
  11. A. J. Haglund, San Jose
  12. Peter Martinez, Columbus
  13. Jason Witczak, Nashville
  14. Jay Taylor, Orlando
  15. Keith Gispert, Georgia
  16. Dan Frantz, Chicago
  17. Matt Leach, Tampa Bay
  18. Clay Rush, Kansas City (BYE)
  19. Carter Warley, New York

Mark Lewis remains the top kicker but Todd Sievers, now with Dallas, should start to challenge finishing off the Desperado scoring drives. Todd France now has 18/19 extra points, which is very impressive, but has yet to attempt a FG. You really want your fantasy kicker to be chipping them in from distance too.
