2007 Player Rankings for Week 3

by Simon McGrother
March 14, 2007

Heading into Week 3 things are becoming clearer - Dallas rock, but perhaps have some vulnerability, New Orleans are going to be the surprise of the season, Grand Rapids need Chuck Wesley, Georgia are a scoring machine, Orlando wilt under bright lights.

  1. Clint Dolezel, Dallas
  2. Chris Griesen, Georgia
  3. Sherdrick Bonner, Arizona
  4. Joe Germaine, Utah
  5. Shaun King, Las Vegas

  15. Matt Nagy, Columbus (BYE)
  16. John Kaleo, Tampa Bay
  17. Raymond Philyaw, Kansas City
  18. Clint Stoerner, Nashville
  19. Murray/Davey, New York

Shaun King is the week's biggest mover - after a disappointing week 1, he threw 10 (ten) TDs in week 2. Week 3 sees the visit of the generous VooDoo and Shaun should clearly get the fantasy start. Several of the upper echelon QBs have tough matchups in week 3: Sherdrick Bonner faces Colorado at altitude, Adrian McPherson leads his Wranglers to Orlando - who's defense matches up well against him. By the same token Shane Stafford and John Dutton have tough games. Clint Stoerner sinks like a stone and must be benched (and I am not directing this to fantasy owners!)

  1. Siaha Burley, Utah
  2. Ben Nelson, San Jose (BYE)
  3. Bobby Sippio, Chicago
  4. Marcus Nash, Dallas
  5. Randy Gatewood, Arizona
  6. Troy Bergeron, Georgia
  7. Kevin Prentiss, Las Vegas
  8. Chris Jackson, Georgia
  9. Sean Scott, Philadelphia
  10. Will Pettis, Dallas
  11. Jimmy Fryzel, Orlando
  12. Kevin Ingram, Los Angeles (BYE)
  13. Damien Harrell, Colorado
  14. Lenzie Jackson, Los Angeles (BYE)
  15. Derrick Lewis, Austin
  16. Damian Groce, Columbus (BYE)
  17. Kenny Henderson, New Orleans
  18. Timon Marshall, Grand Rapids
  19. James Roe, San Jose (BYE)
  20. Sean Scott, Philadelphia
  21. Darnell McDonald, New Orleans
  22. Kevin Nickerson, Austin
  23. Rodney Wright, San Jose (BYE)
  24. Jeremiah Pope, Arizona
  25. Derek Lee, Georgia
  26. Mike Horacek, New York
  27. Jarel Myers, Kansas City
  28. Charles Frederick, Kansas City
  29. Cornelius Bonner, Nashville
  30. TT Toliver, Tampa Bay
  31. Javarus Dudley, Orlando
  32. Andy McCullough, Chicago
  33. Lawrence Samuels, Tampa Bay
  34. David Saunders, Columbus (BYE)
  35. Willie Quinnie, Colorado
  36. Ryan Dennard, Utah
  37. Aaron Boone, Utah
  38. DeAndrew Rubin, Orlando
  39. Mike Brown, Philadelphia
  40. Troy Edwards, Grand Rapids
  41. Tyronne Jones, New Orleans
  42. Charles Pauley, Philadelphia
  43. Jason Shelley, Nashville
  44. Rob Turner, Los Angeles (BYE)
  45. Otis Amey, Austin
  46. Brad Pyatt, Colorado
  47. DeJuan Alfonzo, Chicago
  48. Darcey Levy, Columbus (BYE)
  49. Alonzo Nix, Nashville
  50. Demetris Bendross, Tampa Bay
  51. Etu Molden, Las Vegas
  52. Orshwante Bryant, Utah
  53. Trandon Harvey, Arizona
  54. Thabiti Davis, Las Vegas
  55. James Jordan, Kansas City
  56. Sam Simmons, Kansas City
  57. Robert Redd, Colordao
  58. Josh Bush, Columbus (BYE)
  59. Jerome Riley, Grand Rapids
  60. Marcus Knight, Columbus
  61. Curtis Fagan, Arizona
  62. Andrae Thurman, Dallas
  63. Ahmad Merritt, Chicago

Siaha Burley, who missed Week 2 with a foot injury, is still a must start but keep a very careful eye on his status (and no longer trust "probable"). Ryan Dennard stepped into the breach manfully for the Blaze and has 8 TDs on the season - his value may be tightly coupled to the extent of the Burley injury, but he still looks like a fine squad member. Damien Harrell adds a 2nd disappointing week and slips down the list, but his teammates (3 of whom have more receptions on the season than the great one) all register for the first time. The VooDoo receivers cement their burgeoning reputation with another fine game, and the Katz receivers all slide downwards after their QB got benched for being utterly pants! Kevin Prentiss becomes a tier 1 WR in just 1 game with his record breaking 9 TD haul against the admittedly depleted Rampage secondary. The Rattlers lose Cosmo DeMatteo for the season, so Randy Gatewood, Jeremiah Pope and Trandon Harvey should increase their fantasy value.

  1. Dan Alexander, Nashville
  2. Dan Curran, New Orleans
  3. Chris Ryan, Grand Rapids
  4. Bo Kelly, Arizona
  5. Lonnie Ford, Los Angeles (BYE)
  6. Rodney Filer, Tampa Bay
  7. Wes Ours, Philadelphia
  8. Josh White, Dallas
  9. Matt Kisinger, San Jose (BYE)
  10. Josh Rue, Las Vegas
  11. Dawan Moss, Kansas City
  12. Marlon Moye-Moore, Orlando
  13. Harold Wells, Columbus (BYE)
  14. Chad Dukes, Austin
  15. Kevin Nagle, Orlando
  16. Bob McMillen, Chicago
  17. Kevin Clemens, Utah
  18. Robert Thomas, Colorado
  19. Frank Carter, Utah
  20. Byron Douzart, Kansas City
  21. Matt Huebner, Georgia
  22. James Lynch, New Orleans
  23. John Peaua, Colorado
  24. Bruce McClure, Georgia

Big week for Rodney Filer of Tampa Bay, after a poor showing in week 1 he went to town on the Desperados with 3 rushing scores and 3 receptions. Since Kaleo is not the QB he once (or ever) was, Filer could become a key ingredient in Tampa offense. Bo Kelly also moves up the list - he now leads the league in carries and already has 3 TDs on the season.

  1. Rashad Floyd, Colorado
  2. Clevan Thomas, San Jose (BYE)
  3. Chris D. Brown, New Orleans
  4. Hamin Milligan, Georgia
  5. Nate Coggins, Austin
  6. Eddie Moten, Philadelphia
  7. Jeroid Johnson, Tampa Bay
  8. Brandon Hefflin, Columbus (BYE)
  9. Jonathan Ordway, Chicago
  10. Terrance Joseph, Utah
  11. Lin-J Shell, Orlando
  12. Damen Wheeler, Los Angeles (BYE)
  13. Dennison Robinson, Chicago
  14. Chuck Wesley, Grand Rapids
  15. Monty Montgomery, Nashville
  16. Jeremy Unertl, Chicago
  17. Damon Mason, Austin
  18. Alex Wallace, New Orleans
  19. Joseph Todd, Arizona
  20. Chris Brown, Dallas
  21. DaShane Dennis, Kansas City
  22. Mike Brown, Philadelphia
  23. Chris Pointer, Orlando
  24. Clarence Lawson, Utah
  25. Jermaine Jones, Dallas
  26. Omaar Smith, San Jose (BYE)
  27. David Crocker, Georgia
  28. Delvin Hughley, Colorado
  29. Denario Smalls, Kansas City
  30. Reggie Doster, Grand Rapids
  31. Willie Gary, Georgia
  32. Kenny McEntyre, Kansas City
  33. Antuan Simmons, Los Angeles (BYE)
  34. Thal Woods, Nashville
  35. Johnnie Harris, Philadelphia
  36. Todd Howard, Chicago
  37. Calvin Spears, New Orleans
  38. Kevin Moffett, Utah
  39. Chris Angel, New York
  40. Marvin Taylor, Chicago
  41. Ryan Bowers, Orlando
  42. Ben Kelly, Grand Rapids
  43. Earthwind Moreland, Las Vegas
  44. Travis Coleman, Kansas City
  45. Erin Damond, Arizona
  46. Anthony Derricks, Los Angeles (BYE)
  47. B.J. Barre, Columbus (BYE)
  48. D.J. Johnson, Las Vegas
  49. Eric Joyce, Nashville

Rashad Floyd already leads the league in tackles, so no change there. Chuck Wesley, week 1 stud-meister, was concussed early in week 2 and the Rampage collapsed defensively without him. When he returns he is a must play. Lin-J Shell was very impressive for Orlando in their reversal at the hands of LA.

  1. Mark Lewis, Austin
  2. Steve Videtich, Utah
  3. Brian Gowins, Grand Rapids
  4. Steve Azar, Las Vegas
  5. Todd France, Philadelphia
  6. Gary Kral, Arizona
  7. Remy Hamilton, Los Angeles (BYE)
  8. A. J. Haglund, San Jose (BYE)
  9. Peter Martinez, Columbus (BYE)
  10. Jason Witczak, Nashville
  11. Jason Ball, Colorado
  12. Eric Houle, New Orleans
  13. Dustin Bell, Dallas
  14. Jay Taylor, Orlando
  15. Keith Gispert, Georgia
  16. Dan Frantz, Chicago
  17. Matt Leach, Tampa Bay
  18. Clay Rush, Kansas City
  19. Carter Warley, New York

Mark Lewis is 13 of 13 on extra points and 5 of 7 on field goals, leads all kickers in scoring and looks set to be amongst the elite all season. Matt Leach had an uninspired start with Tampa, but was much better than his predecessor. Steve Azar benefited from the Las Vegas scoring-fest in Grand Rapids and moves up the list. Todd France of Philly is the only perfect kicker on the season with 9 for 9 extra points.
