2007 Player Rankings for Week 2

by Simon McGrother

So you failed to heed my sagacious advice and find yourself 0-1. Not to worry. Think of me like Kevin Costner in Bull Durham: do exactly what I tell you and all will be well, try to come up with ideas of your own and I will tell the batter what's coming and you'll be 0-2 and planning on a trip to the Bum-Bowl.

  1. Clint Dolezel, Dallas
  2. Sherdrick Bonner, Arizona
  3. Shane Stafford, Orlando
  4. John Dutton, Colorado
  5. Chris Griesen, Georgia
  6. Mark Grieb, San Jose
  7. Adrian McPherson, Austin
  8. Joe Germaine, Utah
  9. Matt Nagy, Columbus
  10. Clint Stoerner, Nashville
  11. Matt D'Orazio, Chicago
  12. Tony Graziani, Philadelphia
  13. Andy Kelly, New Orleans
  14. Matt Sauk, Grand Rapids
  15. Shaun King, Las Vegas
  16. Sonny Cumbie, Los Angeles
  17. John Kaleo, Tampa Bay

Clint Dolezel only needed 3 quarters to annihilate New York and now hosts the noticeably poor Tampa Bay Storm (0-1). He should have 6 TDs easily. Sherdrick Bonner had a mighty day in the Week 1 defeat at the hands of Georgia. Arizona were generally a little disappointing, but offensively fired on all cylinders. Week 2 sees the visit of the 1-0 Blaze, but the 61 points they ceded to the VooDoo suggests that Sherdrick and Co. will have another high scoring day. The Predators lived up to pre-season billing with a dominating win over arch-rivals Tampa Bay. Shane Stafford was excellent and in Week 2 hosts the mediocre Avengers (0-1) - a must start. John Dutton was one of the duds of Week 1 as Colorado slipped to 0-1 at home to the Rampage. He has a chance to bounce back with another home game against the other big upset winners in Kansas City. Further down you'll see Andy Kelly rolling back the years and leaping up the list, and John Kaleo sinking without a trace.

  1. Siaha Burley, Utah
  2. Marcus Nash, Dallas
  3. Damien Harrell, Colordao
  4. Ben Nelson, San Jose
  5. Bobby Sippio, Chicago
  6. Randy Gatewood, Arizona
  7. Jimmy Fryzel, Orlando
  8. Chris Jackson, Georgia
  9. Troy Bergeron, Georgia
  10. Kevin Ingram, Los Angeles
  11. Lenzie Jackson, Los Angeles
  12. James Roe, San Jose
  13. Derrick Lewis, Austin
  14. Charles Frederick, Kansas City
  15. Sean Scott, Philadelphia
  16. Damian Groce, Columbus
  17. Darnell McDonald, New Orleans
  18. Aaron Boone, Utah
  19. Kevin Nickerson, Austin
  20. Lawrence Samuels, Tampa Bay
  21. Alonzo Nix, Nashville
  22. Jason Shelley, Nashville
  23. Timon Marshall, Grand Rapids
  24. Terrill Shaw, Tampa Bay
  25. Derek Lee, Georgia
  26. Kenny Henderson, New Orleans
  27. TT Toliver, Tampa Bay
  28. Javarus Dudley, Orlando
  29. Demetris Bendross, Tampa Bay
  30. Anthony Hines, Austin
  31. Mike Brown, Philadelphia
  32. Kevin Prentiss, Las Vegas
  33. Jeremiah Pope, Arizona
  34. Troy Edwards, Grand Rapids
  35. Tyronne Jones, New Orleans
  36. Rob Turner, Los Angeles
  37. Jerel Myers, Kansas City
  38. Steve Gonzales, Philadelphia
  39. DeAndrew Rubin, Orlando
  40. Etu Molden, Las Vegas
  41. Orshwante Bryant, Utah
  42. Robert Redd, Colorado
  43. Thabiti Davis, Las Vegas
  44. Sedrick Robinson, Austin
  45. James Jordan, Kansas City
  46. Josh Bush, Columbus
  47. David Saunders, Columbus
  48. Willis Marshall, Dallas
  49. Curtis Fagan, Arizona
  50. Cornelius Bonner, Nashville

Things are pretty much as you were at the top of the receiving list, Marcus Nash met expectations with Dallas and should do even better hosting the lowly Storm, Siaha Burley had the huge game we said he would and should do well at the Rattlers, who showed significant defensive frailty. Damien Harrell becomes the big worry for fantasy owners, as Colorado were very disappointing in the defeat by Grand Rapids. They have a chance to bounce back hosting the (1-0) Brigade - he remains amongst the elite but if the Crush are in for a poor season he may not live up to his first round draft billing. Further down, we see the arrival of the VooDoo diminutive receivers, Darnell McDonald, Kenny Henderson and Tyrone Jones, who rocked the fantasy world in Week 1. Other notable gainers: Lenzie Jackson (LAA) leads the league in receiving yardage, which is also good news for Kevin Ingram, who may be less of a marked man. Charles Frederick of the Brigade may not be a tier 1 receiver, but he leads the league in rushing and points are points! Last but by no means least, the incredible 6 TD haul for Troy Bergeron of Georgia sees him up amongst the big boys.

  1. Dan Alexander, Nashville
  2. Wes Ours, Philadelphia
  3. Dan Curran, New Orleans
  4. Chris Ryan, Grand Rapids
  5. Lonnie Ford, Los Angeles
  6. Josh White, Dallas
  7. Marlon Moye-Moore, Orlando
  8. Harold Wells, Columbus
  9. Bob McMillen, Chicago
  10. Frank Carter, Utah
  11. Matt Kinsinger, San Jose
  12. Dawan Moss, Kansas City
  13. Kevin Nagle, Orlando
  14. Rodney Filer, Tampa Bay
  15. Bo Kelly, Arizona
  16. Josh Rue, Las Vegas
  17. Chad Dukes, Austin
  18. Kevin Clemens, Utah
  19. Jarrod Penright, Tampa Bay
  20. Josh Jeffries, Los Angeles
  21. James Lynch, New Orleans
  22. Duke Pettijohn, Dallas
  23. Kevin Nagle, Orlando
  24. Jarrick Hillery, Georgia
  25. Bruce McClure, Georgia
  26. Dane Krager, Austin
  27. Phil Glover, San Jose
  28. Chris Robinson, Utah
  29. Ben Moa, Las Vegas
  30. Robert Thomas, Colorado
  31. Byron Douzart, Kansas City
  32. Rupert Grant, Nashville
  33. Matt Huebner, Georgia
  34. John Peaua, Colorado
  35. Marlion Jackson, Las Vegas

All change in the FB rankings, Dane Krager had no carries, Marlion Jackson added to the Las Vegas woes by not showing up for the season, and Phil Glover played only on the defensive side, leaving the FB role at San Jose to Matt Kinsinger who had a great game. Dan Alexander scored a season's worth of TDs in Week 1, but Nashville look like a team who might use the ground game more than most, so he may yet add to that tally. Wes Ours gets his first start as the Soul come off a bye and should contribute, as he usually does. Biggest mover on the list was Chris Ryan of Grand Rapids, he had a mediocre 13 yards in Week 1, but the Rampage will have noted that their Week 2 opponents, Las Vegas, gave up 55 yds and 2 TDs on the ground and will try to exploit this weakness.

  1. Rashad Floyd, Colorado
  2. Jerald Brown, Columbus
  3. Jermaine Jones, Dallas
  4. Clevan Thomas, San Jose
  5. Chris D. Brown, New Orleans
  6. Hamin Milligan, Georgia
  7. Nate Coggins, Austin
  8. Eddie Moten, Philadelphia
  9. Brandon Hefflin, Columbus
  10. Jonathan Ordway, Grand Rapids
  11. Terrance Joseph, Utah
  12. Chuck Wesley, Grand Rapids
  13. Jeremy Unertl, Chicago
  14. Alfonzo DeJuan, Chicago
  15. Damon Mason, Austin
  16. Lin-J Shell, Orlando
  17. Alex Wallace, New Orleans
  18. Damen Wheeler, Los Angeles
  19. Joseph Todd, Arizona
  20. Chris Brown, Dallas
  21. Monty Montgomery, Nashville
  22. Kenny McEntyre, Kansas City
  23. Clarence Lawson, Utah
  24. Jeroid Johnson, Tampa Bay
  25. Omaar Smith, San Jose
  26. David Crocker, Georgia
  27. Delvin Hughley, Colorado
  28. Denario Smalls, Kansas City
  29. Reggie Doster, Grand Rapids
  30. Willie Gary, Georgia
  31. Antuan Simmons, Los Angeles
  32. Johnnie Harris, Philadelphia
  33. Todd Howard, Chicago
  34. Calvin Spears, New Orleans
  35. Kevin Moffett, Utah
  36. Chris Angel, New York
  37. Ryan Bowers, Orlando
  38. Ben Kelly, Grand Rapids
  39. Earthwind Moreland, Las Vegas
  40. Travis Coleman, Kansas City

Rashad Floyd may be one beneficiary of the Crush's poor start. What appeared to be two easy home games to start the season may involve more defense than expected. Noise makers on the defensive side include: Terrance Joseph of Utah, with a league leading 12 tackles, Chuck Wesley of Grand Rapids, hot on his heels and Alfonzo DeJuan of the Rush, a bright spot in an otherwise woeful start to their title defense.

  1. Remy Hamilton, Los Angeles
  2. Steve Videtich, Utah
  3. Brian Gowins, Grand Rapids
  4. Jason Witczak, Nashville
  5. Mark Lewis, Austin
  6. Gary Kral, Arizona
  7. Peter Martinez, Columbus
  8. Dustin Bell, Dallas
  9. Jay Taylor, Orlando
  10. Todd France, Philadelphia
  11. A. J. Haglund, San Jose
  12. Steve Azar, Las Vegas
  13. Jason Ball, Colorado
  14. Keith Gispert, Georgia
  15. Clay Rush, Kansas City
  16. Dan Frantz, Chicago
  17. Eric Houle, New Orleans
  18. Matt Leach, Tampa Bay

Brian Gowins had a career night against the VooDoo and moves up the list dramatically. The other big mover was Jason Witczak who kicked a 57-yard field goal in Nashville's defeat at the hands of Columbus. Dustin Bell was a little disappointing in his Dallas debut missing his only FG and 3 of his 9 XPs. While the Desperados are winning by 53 points they won't mind, but he'd better shape up. Shout out to Bill Gramatica who rounds out Tampa Bay's abysmal line-up with 1 for 3 FGs, and then gets himself cut for someone named Matt Leach.
