2007 Player Rankings for Week 2
by Simon McGrother
So you failed to heed my sagacious advice and find yourself 0-1. Not to worry. Think of me like Kevin Costner in Bull Durham: do exactly what I tell you and all will be well, try to come up with ideas of your own and I will tell the batter what's coming and you'll be 0-2 and planning on a trip to the Bum-Bowl.

Clint Dolezel only needed 3 quarters to annihilate New York and now hosts the noticeably poor Tampa Bay Storm (0-1). He should have 6 TDs easily. Sherdrick Bonner had a mighty day in the Week 1 defeat at the hands of Georgia. Arizona were generally a little disappointing, but offensively fired on all cylinders. Week 2 sees the visit of the 1-0 Blaze, but the 61 points they ceded to the VooDoo suggests that Sherdrick and Co. will have another high scoring day. The Predators lived up to pre-season billing with a dominating win over arch-rivals Tampa Bay. Shane Stafford was excellent and in Week 2 hosts the mediocre Avengers (0-1) - a must start. John Dutton was one of the duds of Week 1 as Colorado slipped to 0-1 at home to the Rampage. He has a chance to bounce back with another home game against the other big upset winners in Kansas City. Further down you'll see Andy Kelly rolling back the years and leaping up the list, and John Kaleo sinking without a trace. |

Things are pretty much as you were at the top of the receiving list, Marcus Nash met expectations with Dallas and should do even better hosting the lowly Storm, Siaha Burley had the huge game we said he would and should do well at the Rattlers, who showed significant defensive frailty. Damien Harrell becomes the big worry for fantasy owners, as Colorado were very disappointing in the defeat by Grand Rapids. They have a chance to bounce back hosting the (1-0) Brigade - he remains amongst the elite but if the Crush are in for a poor season he may not live up to his first round draft billing. Further down, we see the arrival of the VooDoo diminutive receivers, Darnell McDonald, Kenny Henderson and Tyrone Jones, who rocked the fantasy world in Week 1. Other notable gainers: Lenzie Jackson (LAA) leads the league in receiving yardage, which is also good news for Kevin Ingram, who may be less of a marked man. Charles Frederick of the Brigade may not be a tier 1 receiver, but he leads the league in rushing and points are points! Last but by no means least, the incredible 6 TD haul for Troy Bergeron of Georgia sees him up amongst the big boys. |

All change in the FB rankings, Dane Krager had no carries, Marlion Jackson added to the Las Vegas woes by not showing up for the season, and Phil Glover played only on the defensive side, leaving the FB role at San Jose to Matt Kinsinger who had a great game. Dan Alexander scored a season's worth of TDs in Week 1, but Nashville look like a team who might use the ground game more than most, so he may yet add to that tally. Wes Ours gets his first start as the Soul come off a bye and should contribute, as he usually does. Biggest mover on the list was Chris Ryan of Grand Rapids, he had a mediocre 13 yards in Week 1, but the Rampage will have noted that their Week 2 opponents, Las Vegas, gave up 55 yds and 2 TDs on the ground and will try to exploit this weakness. |

Rashad Floyd may be one beneficiary of the Crush's poor start. What appeared to be two easy home games to start the season may involve more defense than expected. Noise makers on the defensive side include: Terrance Joseph of Utah, with a league leading 12 tackles, Chuck Wesley of Grand Rapids, hot on his heels and Alfonzo DeJuan of the Rush, a bright spot in an otherwise woeful start to their title defense. |

Brian Gowins had a career night against the VooDoo and moves up the list dramatically. The other big mover was Jason Witczak who kicked a 57-yard field goal in Nashville's defeat at the hands of Columbus. Dustin Bell was a little disappointing in his Dallas debut missing his only FG and 3 of his 9 XPs. While the Desperados are winning by 53 points they won't mind, but he'd better shape up. Shout out to Bill Gramatica who rounds out Tampa Bay's abysmal line-up with 1 for 3 FGs, and then gets himself cut for someone named Matt Leach. |
