2007 Player Rankings for Week 12

by Simon McGrother
May 16, 2007

Week 11 saw the continuing decline of the Utah Blaze. The early season saw them as the western conference's great hope. The west loves to score big, but offense can only take you halfway and none but the SaberCats have shown the defensive toughness to mount any kind of season-long challenge. The Blaze, after starting 5-2 have now lost 4 straight to see their playoff push sputter, most discouragingly their offense has begun to look very ordinary. The Wranglers', Gladiators' and VooDoo's seasons continue to head in reverse, whilst the Dragons, Crush and Storm are headed in the right direction.

  1. Chris Griesen, Georgia
  2. Clint Dolezel, Dallas (BYE)
  3. Mark Grieb, San Jose
  4. Joe Germaine, Utah
  5. Sherdrick Bonner, Arizona
  6. Matt D'Orazio, Chicago
  7. Aaron Garcia, New York
  8. Andy Kelly, New Orleans

  21. Rohan Davey, New York
  22. John Kaleo, Tampa Bay (IR)
  23. Stoney Case, Tampa Bay (IR)
  24. Steve Bellisari, New Orleans

Joe Germaine continues to lead the league in TD passes, but slips in the rankings as the Blaze continue to implode. Moving in the opposite direction is Aaron Garcia who has been very good since his return and with an improving team, gaining confidence and a relatively fresh arm, could be a force in the last third of the season. Another QB who's star is on the rise is John Dutton - I have been brutal about his form this season, but the Crush are beginning to click a little and score more freely, in part because of an apparent return to form of Damian Harrell. Another nice performance by Tampa Bay's Brett Dietz, who has steadied the Storm very well and may yet lead them to an unlikely playoff spot.

  59. Josh Bush, Columbus
  60. Kevin Prentiss, Las Vegas (IR)
  61. Jerome Riley, Grand Rapids (IR)
  62. Marcus Knight, Columbus
  63. Curtis Fagan, Arizona

James Roe and Ben Nelson owners were probably looking forward to a few weeks of Rodney Wright on injured reserve - not many receivers have to put up with a 3rd choice of Wright's quality. Unfortunately, 4th choice Jason Geathers has proved even more effective in leaching fantasy points from the big duo - he enters our ranking and won't drop out even when Rodney is fit again. Kevin Swayne returned for the Dragons and hauled in 4 TDs from Aaron Garcia. With both of these guys back, New York really might have an offensive unit hot enough to carry them to the playoffs, and more pertinently to be big in the fantasy world. Another receiver who's stepped into the breach is Trandon Harvey - the Rattlers have always relied very heavily on Randy Gatewood, but in his absence Harvey has been very solid, with 4 scores this week. Keep an eye on Rob Mager of the Rush - he has looked very good two weeks in a row, and helped to prove that the Rush can be competitive even if Bobby Sippio is hurt. Biggest hitter of the week was Timon Marshall with 5 scores and acres of return yards.

  1. Dan Alexander, Nashville
  2. Lonnie Ford, Los Angeles
  3. Torrance Marshall, Tampa Bay
  4. Bo Kelly, Arizona
  5. Ja'Mar Toombs, New York (IR)
  6. Marlon Moye-Moore, Orlando
  7. Josh White, Dallas (BYE)
  8. Chris Ryan, Grand Rapids
  9. Harold Wells, Columbus
  10. Brian Johnson, San Jose
  11. Dawan Moss, Kansas City
  12. Robert Thomas, Colorado
  13. James Lynch, New Orleans
  14. Kevin Nagle, Orlando
  15. Bob McMillen, Chicago
  16. Dan Curran, New Orleans (IR)
  17. Josh Rue, Las Vegas
  18. Kevin Nagle, Orlando
  19. Matt Huebner, Georgia
  20. Chris Robinson, Utah
  21. Frank Carter, Utah
  22. Wes Ours, Philadelphia
  23. Byron Douzart, Kansas City
  24. Phil Glover, San Jose
  25. John Peaua, Colorado
  26. Bruce McClure, Georgia

A quiet day on the rushing front, with only Chris Ryan and Josh White scoring more than 1 rushing TD. No fireworks from Dan Alexander or Torrance Marshall, but I guess the pace they were setting could not last forever. Harold Wells had one of his best days with 1 rushing TD and 2 receiving scores. Otherwise it is "as you were" in the FB rankings.

  1. Rashad Floyd, Colorado
  2. Eddie Moten, Philadelphia
  3. Jeroid Johnson, Tampa Bay
  4. Lin-J Shell, Orlando
  5. Chris D. Brown, New Orleans
  6. Clevan Thomas, San Jose
  7. DeJuan Alfonzo, Chicago
  8. Hamin Milligan, Georgia
  9. Nate Coggins, Austin
  10. Jermaine Jones, Dallas (BYE)
  11. Brandon Hefflin, Columbus
  12. DaShane Dennis, New York

  16. Delmonico "Monty" Montgomery, Free Agent
  17. Isaiah Trufant, Kansas City
  18. Damen Wheeler, Los Angeles
  19. Rober' Freeman, Columbus
  20. Eddie Canonico, Los Angeles
  21. Omarr Smith, San Jose
  22. Chris Angel, Colorado
  23. Jeremy Unertl, Chicago
  24. BJ Barre, Columbus
  25. Rayshun Reed, Orlando
  26. Keon Raymond, Nashville
  27. Chuck Wesley, Grand Rapids
  28. William (Roc) Haith, New Orleans
  29. Damon Mason, Austin
  30. Terrance Joseph, Los Angeles
  31. Kahlid Naziruddin, Tampa Bay
  32. Clarence Lawson, Utah
  33. Reggie Doster, Georgia
  34. Willie Gary, Georgia
  35. Earthwind Moreland, Las Vegas
  36. Ahmad Hawkins, Nashville
  37. Bobby Keyes, Dallas (BYE)
  38. Kelvin Hunter, New Orleans
  39. Kenny McEntyre, Kansas City
  40. Dahnel Singfield, Las Vegas
  41. Johnnie Harris, Grand Rapids
  42. Billy Parker, New York
  43. Jerald Brown, Columbus
  44. Traco Rachal, Tampa Bay
  45. Ryan Bowers, Orlando
  46. Calvin Spears, New Orleans

Rayshun Reed had a couple of picks for the Predators in their win over the VooDoo. BJ Barre of the Destroyers played both sides of the ball to great effect, with 8 tackles, one rushing TD and one receiving score. DeJuan Alfonzo had a solid 6 tackles, but supplemented this by receiving for a monster 88 yds and 3 TDs. Jermaine Jones had 10 tackles in the 'Rado's ArenaBowl preview win over the Rush. San Jose's defense continues to rule the roost, Clevan Thomas and Omarr Smith both scored TDs on interception returns, in addition to tackling like fiends.

  1. A. J. Haglund, San Jose
  2. Todd Sievers, Dallas (BYE)
  3. Steve Videtich, Utah
  4. Brian Gowins, Grand Rapids
  5. Jason Ball, Colorado
  6. Mark Lewis, Austin
  7. Gary Kral, Kansas City
  8. Carlos Martinez, Georgia
  9. Dan Frantz, Chicago
  10. Remy Hamilton, Los Angeles
  11. Steve Azar, Las Vegas
  12. Eric Houle, New Orleans
  13. Carter Warley, New York
  14. Todd France, Philadelphia
  15. Seth Marler, Tampa Bay
  16. Peter Martinez, Columbus
  17. Jay Taylor, Orlando
  18. Jason Witczak, Nashville

Jason Ball was the hottest kicker of the week, with 3 decent length FGs in addition to 7/8 xps. He moves up as Mark Lewis sinks further, on the worsening plight of the Austin offense. Steve Azar is suffering the same fate at Las Vegas, where ineptitude plumbs new depths.
