2007 Player Rankings for Week 10
by Simon McGrother May 2, 2007
Week 9 is in the books. A more predictable week than usual, with only a mild peppering of shocks - Tampa Bay scoring 34 was a surprise to no-one, but that score proving enough for a win is beyond belief, particularly against the Destroyers, whose only reversal in the previous 4 games was by 2 points against the Desperados. The Dragons pummeling the Rattlers is only a surprise until you include the fact that Aaron Garcia was back for New York and Randy Gatewood was missing once more for the Rattlers - might be worth keeping in mind if you are suddenly going to start choosing the Dragons in your pick 'em league. No great surprise that the ever-improving SaberCats crushing the Blaze, but the manner of the victory suggests that the Blaze really might be in a serious slump and that everyone better watch out for those long-toothed kitties.

Ten more TDs for Chris Griesen in an outstanding season. Impact player of the week is probably Aaron Garcia returning for New York and elevating them to a good win over the Rattlers. Probably a nice game to come back in, since Arizona cannot defend, but a big confidence boost for the struggling Dragons. Bad day for Sherdrick Bonner despite 6 TDs, his 4 interceptions were probably the difference between the teams. Another QB who'll try to forget week 9 is Raymond Philyaw, who lost the battle of the lack-luster offenses to John Dutton and the Crush, throwing only 3TDs and 2 picks in the process. And in shock late breaking news, Juston Wood is a considerably better QB than Clint Stoerner - that was a toughy! |

Staggering performance by Timon Marshall , who in addition to scoring 7 TDs, (6 receiving, 1 return) had over 400 total yds. Huge day also for Kenny Henderson who equaled a league record with 19 catches, 4 of them for TDs and 190 yards, not enough to beat the Force for whom Troy Bergeron matched Henderon - in the scoring column at least. Not such a great day for Damian Groce, 2 TDs and 61 yds would be a decent effort, if you were a 2nd choice receiver against a tough defense - but when you are 1st choice and up against the Storm - owners are looking for just a little more. Similar mediocrity from Kevin Ingram and Lenzie Jackson of LA - for whom the visit of Grand Rapids promised so much more than 2 scores each. Lucky for LA, Robert Quiroga stepped up with 4 TDs, and moves up the list. |

Big week for Marlon Moye-Moore with 27 yards and 3 scores. Naturally his efforts were matched by Dan Alexander, but when Dan fails to break a record it hardly seems worth mentioning his name. Brian Johnson continues to impress for San Jose - one begins to wonder if the timing of their general improvement and Johnson becoming more of a threat is merely a coincidence. Lonnie Ford had a couple of scores for the Avengers to strengthen his positioning the rankings. Lastly Dawan Moss appears to have convinced the Brigade that he should get the carries rather than Charles Frederick - with 9 carries for 20 yards and 3 scores he very well might have a point. |

Reggie Doster made 12 tackles for the Force, and accordingly registers on the rankings for the first time this year. Our old friend Billy Parker was involved in everything for New York and with the Dragons showing some spirit may feature more prominently in the second half of the season. And Chuck Wesley reminded us that he has big points potential with 10 tackles and a pick.

Remy Hamilton was star kicker of the day hitting everything he attempted and even recovering an onside kick. Carter Warley moves up on the promise of better times to come in New York. Las Vegas' continuing woes take their toll on Steve Azar, who cannot be expected to score if the Gladiators cannot move the ball. |
