The Stat Guy's Pickups for Week 9
David Saunders WR (Columbus)
Week 8 Stat Line: 7 receptions, 100 yards and 2 TDs
Another solid week for David Saunders. He has been the go-to guy for the Destroyers the past two weeks posting 15 receptions, 170 yards, and 4 TDs. He has a good matchup this week against a Colorado defense that gives up a lot of points. He’s been the most reliable receiver the last two weeks, and has some chemistry right now with QB John Kaleo.
Jarvarus Dudley WR (Orlando)
Week 8 Stat Line: 10 receptions, 179 yards and 3 TDs
Wow, how far has this guy come? Due to the numerous injuries to Orlando’s receiving core, this guy has made the most out of his opportunity. Last week, Dudley caught several passes from QB Joey Hamilton this week which included a ridiculous 46-yard bomb. He has some competition with the other young Orlando WR’s, but may have found some chemistry with his quarterback.
Jeremy Unertl DS (Chicago)
Week 8 Stat Line: 5 tackles, INT
Fresh off an 8 tackle performance in week 7, Unertl performed well yet again in week 8, posting 5 tackles and grabbing an interception. Unertl did not play the first two weeks but has posted 31 tackles and 4 interceptions the past six games. He should post some solid stats this week against the Rampage's poor offense.
Phil Glover RB/FB (SJ)
Week 8 Stat Line: 7 rushes, 16 yards and 3 TDs
Anytime a FB scores three TDs in one game, you’re going to make my list of players to insert into your lineup. The SaberCat offense is moving the ball down the field at will. When you only need a couple of yards to get to the goal line, and you need to score, how about just letting a 6’0" 272-lb rock smash the ball in! That’s what you’re going to get with Glover. He faces a tough Kats team this week, but one trip to the end zone is very possible.
Ben Nelson OS (SJ)
Week 8 Stat Line: 13 receptions, 165 yards and 2 TDs
Just exactly how hurt is Calvin Schexnayder? Nobody knows and would you like to know why? Ben Nelson has filled in nicely and has been on a tear. Through two weeks of being the OS for the SaberCats, Nelson has posted an eye-popping 24 receptions, 327 yards, and 4 TDs. Yowza!! It may be too late, but check your waiver wire to see if he’s available. Snag him if he's there. Check the injury report for Schex this week before you play him. But honest, Nelson’s play may have forced Schex his starting gig. Monitor the situation closely.
