The Stat Guy's Pickups for Week 14
Most Arena Fantasy Football leagues will begin their playoffs in Week 14, so this is the last installment of Waiver Wire pickups for the season. I hope you all listened to me, your very own Stat Guy, and scooped up such gems as Chris Sanders, Aaron Boone, Ben Nelson and Javarus Dudley. If you didn't, you'll know better next year. If you did, thanks for being a loyal reader.
So, if you're looking to grab some help on the waiver wire for that critical playoff push, check out some of these players who performed well in Week 13. Good luck, everyone... see you next season on the Stat Guy's Pickups.
Darcy Levy WR (Columbus)
Week 13 Stat Line: 7 receptions, 88 yards, 3 TDs
For the second straight week, Levy was the team leader in yards and touchdowns. It's hard to figure out who Columbus QB John Kaleo is throwing the ball to sometimes, but for the last two weeks he seems to have been favoring Levy. Mr. Levy should be able find the end zone a couple more times before the season is over.
Andy Kelly QB (Utah)
Week 13 Stat Line: 314 yards passing, 4 TDs
This guy should have already been snapped up last week, but if he is still lingering, you may want to give him a shot. The Blaze have now won two straight games and Kelly is the reason why. Kelly is a proven AFL veteran and should produce some solid stats down the stretch, especially throwing to OS stud Siaha Burley. Kelly should be able to keep the Blaze competitive the rest of the season which means he will have to rack up some stats. And with the Utah offense, he shouldn't have any problems delivering for you during playoff time.
Alonzo Nix OS (Nashville)
Week 13 Stat Line: 9 receptions, 118 yards, 3 TDs
Sleeper Alert! It's time to seriously consider Alonzo Nix as a starter. Nix had his best game of the season against KC grabbing nine balls for 118 yards and three touchdowns. Nashville has Grand Rapids next week, Los Angeles in Week 15, and Tampa Bay to finish out the season, so the Kats offense will have no problems moving the ball through the air. This could be that late season grab that carries a fantasy team to a championship. I think he could be a nice sleeper play against a bad Grand Rapids defense this week, becoming seriously valuable to whoever is wise enough to pick him up.
Peter Martinez K (Grand Rapids)
Week 13 Stat Line: 3 extra points, four FGs
Looking for a kicker during playoff time? How clutch was this guy last week? Martinez made four out of five FG attempts, including the game winner which snapped the Rampage's four game losing streak. Martinez has very quietly had a solid season for the Rampage and is the 4th ranked kicker as far as total points. His 15 FGs this year are second only to All-World kicker Remy Hamilton. The Rampage offense is not very explosive, so when they get within range they have no problems calling out Martinez. He could produce some nice fantasy value for teams in the playoff picture.
Lonnie Ford RB (Los Angeles)
Week 13 Stat Line: 4 carries, 25 yards, 2 TDs and 1 INT
Ford returned from injury with a strong performance. Ford now has eight touchdowns on the year and when healthy will find the end zone. The Avengers defense is bad, and playing both sides of the field gives Lonnie the opportunity to rack up some fantasy points.
