Sit 'em and Start 'em for Week 14
Last week we told you to start Nick Browder (42 fantasy points), Bobby Sippio (54 FPs), Aaron Boone (20 FPs), Eddie Moten (17 FPs) and Clay Rush (10 FPs) and advised you to sit John Kaleo (35 FPs), Freddie Solomon (13 FPs), Tom Pace (14 FPs), Damon Mason (10 FPs) and Gary Kral (5 FPs).
This week, we have more player recommendations for you, based on performance, matchup and intuition.

Sherdrick Bonner - Arizona Arizona's trip to Dallas promises a point-fest. Both teams have excelled this season thanks to high powered offenses. In fact, you could happily start either QB in this one. I'm plumping for Bonner because the Rattlers were bitten by the Rampage last week, leaving them with work to do to secure an advantageous post-season. The Deperados have much less to play for and should be taking their foot off the gas about now (perhaps even resting some stars). |
Other quarterbacks with favorable matchups: Mark Grieb (San Jose) vs Los Angeles, Matt Nagy (Georgia) vs Chicago, Chris Sanders (Kansas City) vs Tampa Bay, Andy Kelly (Utah) vs Las Vegas, Sonny Cumbie (Los Angeles) vs San Jose |

John Dutton - Colorado Dutton was poor in week 13 as the Crush went down at home to lowly (but surging) Utah. Orlando come to the mountains in Week 14, having held their last two road opponents (CLB and AUS) below 40 points. In fact, over their last 5 games Orlando are conceding less than 31 ppg, which is outstanding defense in a league run by offense. With Colorado already in the playoffs, I think that the Predators impressive defensive run will continue. |
Other quarterbacks with unfavorable matchups: John Kaleo (Columbus) vs Austin, John Fitzgerald (Austin) vs Columbus, Matt Sauk (Philadelphia) vs New York, Matt D'Orazio (Chicago) vs Georgia |
Freddie Solomon - Tampa Bay Just because I sit a player one week, does not mean I don't rate him. Freddie had a nasty matchup at Orlando last week, but the visit of (the albeit much improved) Brigade to Tampa in Week 14 suggests a return to winning ways. The Storm were appalling in Week 13 but they still have hopes of post-season action. The Brigade are not the pushover they were a couple of weeks ago, but Tampa Bay are a different proposition at home than on their travels. The two teams combined for 128 points in Week 6 and I expect another high scoring game. |
Other Offensive Specialists with favorable matchups: Chris Jackson (Georgia) vs Chicago, Siaha Burley (Utah) vs Las Vegas, Marcus Nash (Las Vegas) vs Utah, Ben Nelson (San Jose) vs Los Angeles, Terrill Shaw (Dallas) vs Arizona |

Tony Locke - Los Angeles Despite a terrible run of form, the LA receiving gang continues to put up excellent numbers. Locke has been second fiddle to Ingram most of the season but he has regularly contributed yardage and scores. Week 14 sees San Jose visit LA. The SaberCats are the form team in the league. Since losing to the Avengers in Week 7, they have won 5, with their only loss by a mere 3 points in Nashville. San Jose's success has been built on offense rather than defense, but I have a feeling that we will not see a repeat of the Week 7, 136-point thriller between these two teams. The long toothed felines are in a tight battle with the Rattlers and need to win every game. |
Other Offensive Specialists with unfavorable matchups: Derrick Lewis (Austin) vs Columbus, Darcey Levy (Columbus) vs Austin, Damien Harrell (Colorado) vs Orlando |
Orshawante Bryant - Utah So I am starting a Utah WR for the first time this season. I have steered clear until now because of (a) the dominance of Siaha Burley in the scoring charts and (b) the mid-season travails of the Blaze. But with the arrival of Andy Kelly the Blaze appear to have stopped the rot. Two wins on the bounce and now a visit to (3 losses in a row) Las Vegas. The Gladiators actually edged the previous meeting 49-47, but that was when Utah was barely alight. The only question mark over this start is the choice of receivers at Kelly's disposal. In Week 13 he was very even handed (leading to mediocre fantasy points all round). In Week 12 he was all over Burley. I think Week 14 is going to be very nice for Utah and Bryant in particular. |
Other Wide Receivers with favorable matchups: James Roe (San Jose) vs Los Angeles, Kevin Ingram (Los Angeles) vs San Jose, Mike Horacek (New York) vs Philadelphia, Will Pettis (Dallas) vs Arizona, Aaron Boone (Kansas City) vs Tampa Bay, Lawrence Samuels (Tampa Bay) vs Kansas City |
David Saunders - Columbus Columbus travel to Austin for the Battle of the Truly Inconsistent. The Destroyers ended a run of 3 straight losses with a terrific win in Philly. The Wranglers are 2-2 in their last 4. Both teams need the win for any hope of playoff chances. The Wranglers can still get there with a loss, but the Destroyers can basically book their summer vacation if they lose again. Austin appear to have just a bit too much for Columbus. Saunders has been a handy receiver for fantasy owners, but I fear that his bubble will burst along with Destroyers playoff hopes. |
Other Wide Receivers with unfavorable matchups: Randy Gatewood (Arizona) vs Dallas, Andy McCullough (Colorado) vs Orlando, Kevin Nickerson (Austin) vs Columbus, Etu Molden (Chicago) vs Georgia |
Marlion Jackson - Las Vegas Jackson found his way off the injury report last week and scored 20 fantasy points. The last time this happened (Week 9), Marlion sat out the following game. But this week he's listed as Probable, which gives us hope that he'll see some playing time against a pliant Utah defense.
Other Fullbacks with favorable matchups: Robert Thomas (Georgia) vs Chicago, Duke Pettijohn (Dallas) vs Arizona, Dan Alexander (Nashville) vs Grand Rapids, Lonnie Ford (Los Angeles) vs San Jose |
Frank Carter - Nashville Just when it seemed safe to start Carter again, he went missing and didn't get a touch in last week's loss to Kansas City, as Rupert Grant got 7 carries. With Grant and Dan Alexander in the backfield, any injury is enough to shelve Carter, which makes the situation all too volatile. |
Other Fullbacks with unfavorable matchups: Bob McMillen (Chicago) vs Georgia, Harold Wells (Columbus) vs Austin, Saul Patu (Colorado) vs Orlando |
Rashad Floyd - Colorado I know this isn't that big of a revelation. But in the last four weeks, Floyd has scored 20, 19, 21 and 24 fantasy points, far outscoring the DS competition. This week in a big game against Orlando, expect Floyd to top 20 points again. |
Other Defensive Specialists with favorable matchups: Chris Brown (Georgia) vs Chicago, Hamin Milligan (Dallas) vs Arizona, Brandon Hefflin (Columbus) vs Austin, Jeremy Unertl (Chicago) vs Georgia |
Kenny McEntyre - Orlando McEntyre has five consecutive weeks of double-digit points and has been playing fairly well. But his hamstrings are aging and his speed isn't what it once was. Against Colorado, McEntyre will have his hands full with whoever the Crush throw at him. |
Other Defensive Specialists with unfavorable matchups: Bobby Perry (Dallas) vs Arizona, Jonathan Ordway (Tampa Bay) vs Kansas City, Jeroid Johnson (Orlando) vs Colorado, Monty Montgomery (Nashville) vs Grand Rapids |
Remy Hamilton - Los Angeles Again, it's not much of a stretch to say "Start the best." But Hamilton has been even better than the best lately, scoring double-figures in 6 of the last 7 weeks (and 10 out of 13 on the season). With the Sabercats on tap, expect alot of scoring from the Avengers and Hamilton. |
Other Kickers with favorable matchups: Carlos Martinez (Dallas) vs Arizona, Todd Sievers (Austin) vs Columbus, Mark Lewis (Columbus) vs Austin, Clay Rush (Colorado) vs Orlando |
Steve Videtich - Utah Not everyone is happy with Utah's efficiency under Andy Kelly. Videtich is getting less chances than he was before and went 10 consecutive weeks with scoring in double-digits. Look elsewhere for your kicker this week. |
Other Kickers with unfavorable matchups: Eric Houle (Las Vegas) vs Utah, Brian Schmitz (San Jose) vs Los Angeles, Nelson Garner (Georgia) vs Chicago |
