Sit 'em and Start 'em for Week 12

Last week we told you to start Chris Jackson (34 fantasy points), Willis Marshall (29 FPs) and Shane Stafford (26 FPs) and advised you to sit Bob McMillen (2 FPs) and Kevin Swayne (8 FPs) and Oshawante Bryant (13 FPs).

This week, we have more player recommendations for you, based on performance, matchup and intuition.

Sonny Cumbie - Los Angeles
Cumbie has been performing well in recent weeks (despite 3 losses in a row for the Avengers) and his combination with Kevin Ingram has been very potent. LA travel to Utah where the Blaze defense continues to confound. In two of their games they have stifled opponents (30ppg) and in the other 9 they have been woeful, conceding more than 60ppg. The earlier meeting between the two was a shootout and I expect LA to regroup after their humbling loss to KC and score big.

Other quarterbacks with favorable matchups:  Mark Grieb (San Jose) vs Las Vegas, Clint Dolezel (Dallas) vs Grand Rapids, Chris Sanders (Kansas City) vs Colorado, Jason Gesser (Utah) vs Los Angeles, Jason Fife (Las Vegas) vs San Jose

Clint Stoerner - Nashville
Clint is back from injury, but the visit of Philly is not going to help his stats much. The Soul had been having some defensive meltdowns earlier in the season but have shored things up in recent weeks. With Stoerner a little rusty after 4 weeks off, and the Katz running game proving very effective, I am expecting only a modest turnout from Clint. If you have a backup worth his salt, give him a start.

Other quarterbacks with unfavorable matchups:  Matt Nagy (Georgia) vs Orlando, Joe Hamilton (Orlando) vs Georgia, Matt D'Orazio (Chicago) vs Arizona, Shane Stafford (Tampa Bay) vs Austin

Derrick Lewis - Austin
Austin blew chunks in Week 11, but Lewis was a zephyr in an otherwise moribund display. With the visit of the defensively generous Tampa Bay Storm, I expect the Wranglers to get back to winning ways and for Lewis to improve on a solid performance in the rout against Georgia. Both teams are in a win-lose-win-lose pattern and both are scheduled a win, so something has to give.

Other Offensive Specialists with favorable matchups:  Marcus Nash (Las Vegas) vs San Jose, Siaha Burley (Utah) vs Los Angeles, Damien Harrell (Colorado) vs Kansas City, Ben Nelson (San Jose) vs Las Vegas, Terrill Shaw (Dallas) vs Grand Rapids

CJ Johnson - Chicago
Chicago are in a tail spin. Only one win in 6 (and that was against the equally poor Rampage) and now a visit to the (one loss in 6) Rattlers bodes ill. The fact that Michael Bishop has been taking some snaps is a mixed blessing for the Chicago receivers, and is unlikely to stop the rot. Johnson has been holding his own but the Rush are tanking and it's time to bench him.

Other Offensive Specialists with unfavorable matchups:  Chris Jackson (Georgia) vs Orlando, Jimmy Fryzel (Orlando) vs Georgia, Freddie Solomon (Tampa Bay) vs Austin, Kevin Swayne (New York) vs Columbus

Randy Gatewood - Arizona
So it unlikely that Gatewood can match his heroics of Week 11 (68 points), but the visit of the disintegrating Rush promises another very good day. The Rattlers have won 5 out of 6 and are scoring freely. Veteran QB Sherdrick Bonner has been in fine form and with Gatewood clearly the pick of his receivers the Rush are unlikely to be able to keep them out of the endzone.

Other Wide Receivers with favorable matchups:  James Roe (San Jose) vs Las Vegas, Will Pettis (Dallas) vs Grand Rapids, Kevin Ingram (Los Angeles) vs Utah, Aaron Boone (Kansas City) vs Colorado, David Saunders (Columbus) vs New York

Timon Marshall - Grand Rapids
It is a little bit easy to pick on the Rampage. They are 3-8 and are heading to Dallas for a whupping. Timon has been very solid for fantasy owners, despite the team's continued malaise. But with the Desperados demonstrating previously unknown defensive resilience against the Dragons in Week 11, the portents are pretty sucky for Timon and gang.

Other Wide Receivers with unfavorable matchups:  Mike Brown (Philadelphia) vs Nashville, Derek Lee (Georgia) vs Orlando, Kevin Nickerson (Austin) vs Tampa Bay

Frank Carter - Nashville
Big Frank had a great Week 11, with 2 TDs and 33 yards from 7 carries. With Stoerner coming back from a month on the sideline, the Katz will keep running the ball, giving Clint a chance to catch his breath.

Other Fullbacks with favorable matchups:  Saul Patu (Colorado) vs Kansas City, Harold Wells (Columbus) vs New York, Dan Alexander (Nashville) vs Philadelphia, Lonnie Ford (Los Angeles) vs Utah

Robert Thomas - Georgia
Thomas has been a consistent producer all year, but with Matt Nagy proving an effective rusher, Thomas' touches of the ball will be strictly limited. There are better choices out there.

Other Fullbacks with unfavorable matchups:  Bob McMillen (Chicago) vs Arizona, Marlon Moye-Moore (Orlando) vs Georgia, Chris Avery (Grand Rapids) vs Dallas

Jeremy Unertl - Chicago
Jeremy is the best thing in the Rush's defense, which has cost him fantasy points as opponents seek to avoid him. The trip to Arizona promises more of the same, but with the matchup so tilted in favor of the Rattlers expect everyone on the Rush to make a bunch of tackles.

Other Defensive Specialists with favorable matchups:  Nate Coggins (Georgia) vs Orlando, Rashad Floyd (Colorado) vs Kansas City, Monty Montgomery (Nashville) vs Philadelphia, Clevan Thomas (San Jose) vs Las Vegas

Jermaine Jones - Dallas
Yes, Jermaine has been dandy and he's a big part of the Dallas D. But the visit of the Rampage will probably lead to a quiet game, as he won't be needed much. Give him a rest.

Other Defensive Specialists with unfavorable matchups:  TJ Hill (Las Vegas) vs San Jose, Kelvin Hunter (Utah) vs Los Angeles, Damon Mason (Austin) vs Tampa Bay, Eddie Moten (Philadelphia) vs Nashville

MacKenzie Hoambrecker - Kansas City
So the Brigade finally make a 2nd blip in the win column. They had been threatening to do it for a few weeks and with the excellent form of QB Chris Sanders they may actually be a better team than their current standings suggest. The magnificently monikered MacKenzie Hoambrecker has not been exactly great, but he gets most of his extra points and as his nerves settle down he could be a well used asset for the remainder of the season.

Other Kickers with favorable matchups:  Brian Schmitz (San Jose) vs Las Vegas, Remy Hamilton (Los Angeles) vs Utah, Gary Kral (Arizona) vs Chicago, Carlos Martinez (Dallas) vs Grand Rapids

Nelson Garner - Georgia
Garner is a fine kicker, but the Force simply do not take field goals, with fewer attempts than any other team. Extra points aren't going to win you any titles, so look for other options in the kicking game.

Other Kickers with unfavorable matchups: Todd France (Philadelphia) vs Nashville, Keith Gispert (Chicago) vs Arizona, Clay Rush (Colorado) vs Kansas City
